I'm not sure if its me or its just possibly I notice microstuttering.. I just bought the 4870 X2 today and I had a GTX 280 before , here are my stats :

Q6600 OC'd to 3.2ghz
Gigabyte P965-DQ6
4 gigs DDR2 (not clocked to the CPU FSB so standard settings)
Audigy 2
Corsair 750 watt


Now it shows its-self at times if it is infact that ..during loading , with the GTX 280 it was really smooth and I couldn't see anything like microstuttering. It happens in Fur mark and has happened in WoW , it doesn't happen in COD4 or Gears of War. So I'm not really sure if its just me or it is happening.

This is the first time I've used a Dual GPU single card solution so I'm not really sure what to think at this point and I'm a bit worried that its the card its-self. It also has a weird whine coming from the choke on the card , now I'm used to this whine on the 280 but this one has a kind of double sound , almost as if its happening depending on which GPU is stressing for power the most.. and I just want to know if thats not abnormal.

Currently using version 8.54.

Also I've noticed I have alittle mouse lag as well, I didn't notice any with the GTX 280 or my old 8800 Ultra.
 
make sure your bios is up to date.. I updated mine and all that went away for me.. Id like to try the new drivers but im running xp and it seems like its vista only... BBBoooooooooooooo hisssssssssss lol...
 
My BIOS is completely up to date right now. Sucks they arent putting out the XP drivers fast enough.

I meant in the catalyst control center - > 3D -> All Settings -> Catalyst A.I., disable.

i got similar issues with wc3 and 4870x2 UNLESS:

1- i turned on manual settings 16x and 8x etc
2- i disabled catalyst A.I.

I think its because it thinks wc3 is basically so non-demanding that catalyst A.I. will tone down the 4870x2 and since i kept AF and AA on application settings, i think they might have just slightly underestimated requirements. thats just how i see it, not sure if its totally correct, although i did read up a bit on catalyst A.I. Anyway, since you mentioned it doesnt happen with the newer games and only older, less demanding? games i thought maybe the same problem happens there...sorry if im talking rubbish! feel free to correct me, but it is worth a shot as i always disable it when i load wc3
 
I still notice microstuttering in fur mark and in WoW during raids.. plus the mouse lag is a bit annoying as well. I'm not sure If I'm willing to just deal with it or try to trade the card in for another, I really don't wanna trade in a card that works with some microstuttering for a card that comes DOA.
 
I noticed some small stutter in WoW, but only in certain areas. I have everything in game maxed, running on 8.8 official release drivers. I also have Adaptive AA turned on, and have AA set for application and edge detect.
 
I guess I'll just wait 30 days to see if ATI steps up the drivers and see if any of these issues gets fixed in that time period, if not I'm not really sure what I'll do, maybe get the 280 again.
 
Note that by disabling Catalyst AI the card won't be able to use both GPU cores.
 
I never really got the whole microstuttering thing..
And I have a 3870X2 which is like a step above the 9800GX2 and 7950GX2 when it comes to microstuttering.
