Greetings...

What can ya all tell me about that clear plexi top for the Laing DDC pump? I see it has G 1/4 threads where the hose barbs usually are and another set of threads in the center top. Does this plexi top make it nosier or quieter?

Well, the original mod I believe increased the sound of the pump ever so slightly, but not by much at all. I would assume if you installed the plexi top correctly there would not be much effect on the noise.

Do you by any chance know what the extra port is for at the top center?

That is what allows you to get more out of your pump. If you look at the stock DDC you notice that the intake has a sharp right angle turn right as it goes into the pump. This is basically choking the pump and not allowing it to pump its full potential. By moving the intake to go straight in the middle (where that extra fitting is) it allows for much better flow rates, around a 70% improvement with almost no loss in head pressure as well.

Basically if space is not a problem (I believe that was a design constraint on the DDC otherwise Laing would have designed the pump with the inlet going straight in) then you should by all means use the inlet that is right over the middle, and not the one that comes out the side.

The case of acrylic glass allows the sight up to the rotor of the pump, and due to several LED bores, the DCC case can even be illuminated.

Wow, this is obviously a very mod friendly pump, lol.

Those mods certainly look interesting, i'd almost be tempted to buy a plexi glass top for my pump.
