All Flash Drives Bootable?

Could I use any old USB Flash Drive to boot my computer into MS-DOS or can I only use one that the company says is "bootable"? I just wanted to order one off of ebay for like 10 bucks.
 
I would say it depends almost 100% on your bios of your PC and whether it sees the usb device as bootable.
