Hey guys,

I was looking at a 17" LCD and got a lot of great recommendations here. After comtemplating it, with all the desk space I am saving I might as well go for a 19" display.

I've tried to do my research here but most of the threads seem to be about gaming monitors. In particular I've read a lot about the Hyundai L90D+. The gamers seem to love it but I keep on reading conflicting opinions as the movie quality.

I am not a hardcore gamer. America's Army is the only FPS I play on a regular basis (few hours a week). Most of the games I play are strategy/turn based. I do appreciate image quality as I would watch the occasional DVD. I also read a lot of text. A DVI input is a must. So in the end, I am looking for a good all-around monitor than can do most things well, but does not have to excel at any one category at the expense of another.

So can you guys put together some recs? Since this is 19" we're talking about... I guess my budget would be up to $400. I don't need the best of the best, so anything cheaper would be a lot better!

Oh and have the IPS displays come down in price at all yet? They seem to offer a good compromise but wow are they expensive last time I checked!

Thanks!

I have a LD90+, i play alot of games on it, the movies i have watched have all been dvix/xvid/wmvHD and they have looked great, yet im not up close looking for problems.

They didn't include even one of the new overdriven VA panels in the test, so I would put doubt to the "best" claim.

I would recommend Samsung 193p+ or if you want to go cheaper and willing to have
reduced screen size, the 173p+.

Your choice should come down to a Samsung 930B (what I have and love it) or the Hyundai L90D+

Thanks for all the great tips guys.

I am now looking at a Samsung 193P on my desk. I LOVE IT!!! :D

So, how does the Hyundai L90D+ compare with the Viewsonic VA921b (on sale at newegg)? I know someone looking for a 19" or 17" LCD monitor who wants to keep the price between $300-400. They aren't really big gamers or video/graphics editors, but may want to do a little something in this vein and may want to watch DVDs and wants a crisp picture. Also, what about the Viewsonic 17" VX724 or VA712b? Thank you.
