Guys help me out!!!
I bought this aspire x cruiser case few days ago along w/ a 120mm fan (my first build)
problem is that i dunno if i have a good airflow

here's the spec:
1x rear 120mm fan slot, 2x front 80mm fan slot, 1x mid-top 80mm fan slot

here's my setup:
rear 120mm (exhaust)
top 80mm (intake)
front 2x 80mm (intake)

That's about as good as you can get without cutting anything!

To get the BEST airflow, cut out all the fan grills, and slap on some nice wire grills.

I'd suggest that you change the top fan from intake to exhaust. Also, you didn't list the CFM of each fan, but try to exhaust more than you intake to improve your cooling.

77.26 cfm on the 120mm
27.94 cfm on the 80mm

one noob question:
is exhaust more important than intake?

when i build my new comp im gonna be cutting all sorts of sheet metal to make the airflow perfect.

Oh, ew. I totally missed that the top was an intake sorry. Switch it... Now :).

Those fans are enough. Cut out the grills though, as I bet the CFM rating with grills attached is 1/2 of their spec.

Yes, exhaust is more important. If you exhaust more than you intake, air will be sucked in through the little gaps in the case, and all the air inside the case, which is hot, will be drawn out. If you intake more than you exhaust, there is a chance that prockets of hot, stagnant air will form, which is bad for cooling.

Keep in mind also that having an intake on the top of your case as opposed to the front or side will suck in a lot more dust

get you one of those insents things that smoke and "watch" were the smoke goes from it. You need it to run over every thing one way or another.

heeh i wouldnt blow smoke into a PC fans....thats just me.

You should be ok if you have your fans pointing its airflow the correct way. In the top and in the back make sure those are sucking hot air out. You PSU should be also sucking out hot air. The 2 in the front are intakes. They normally can blow over your HD's, sometimes not. If you dont have a fan on the side of your PC, maybe think about drilling one there. Drill it right over your CPU and drop a 80mm-92mm-120mm fan, which ever, in there blowing fresh air over your CPU.

This will probaly be the best you can do for air. You can get creative and cut out the precut fan grills on your case, maybe put another hole on the side of your case over your Video cards to blow fresh air over them, along with the CPU.

Why? Ever seen a wind tunnel?
Then you say should be ok, Why not know were the air is going and Know you are ok. If not you will see what needs changed.
Just my 2cent's of course but that is how I have done it for a good while.

Blowing smoke into your comp is a bad idea cause it collects on everything and can cause shorts, damage componants, or clog the fins on heatsinks. It's like shooting a handful of dust into your system on purpose.

10 sec. of smoke will not kill a system. people smoke every day in the same place as the pc and they still work. I am not buying it.

I just personally wouldnt...like i said, thats just me =) if he places his fans right and correct direction of flow...you wouldnt have to test it to that extreme. Just make sure the case is nice and clean inside, wires all nicely tucked away as this will decrease the flow of air in the case.

You current setup looks good, just swap the direction of the top fan, make it so that its sucking out the hot air, since hot air is lighter and moves up =)

If you havent already, if you want to dramatically lower your CPU temps...drill a blow hole on the side of the case directly above the CPU. If you dont have it, then its the best bang for the buck to drop your CPU temps. You can also do this for your Video card, just drill a 2nd blowhole over your Video card and you set.

Unless this guy is flying airplanes in his rig, I don't think a smoke test is necessary.

Just swap the top fan to exaust and you are good.

haha...omg i smell a mod coming on

no really do the smoke thing and see if it needs it first.
This is not my first post on this and will not be my last.
Why fix what isn't broke? if you what the flow right make sure it is not working before
you "fix" it.
