Ageia PCI-E PPU

I am glad to hear they are leaving the 130nm process behind...

Now all we need is a reason to buy their hardware.

UT3 may be a good reason depending on how well they utilize it. As far as I know though there has been no confirmation on the matter.

I'm still getting my card however, because Warhammer Online supposidly supports PhysX, and that is most certainly going to be my next MMO. Well... maybe AoC.

word says you will also be able to use more than one. do they not help in other games that dont support there hardware? will i be better off getting Havoc (nvidia physx.)

If you're talking about some kind of SLI-like support, I think you're getting ahead of yourself. Currently there isn't much of anything which supports it, much less a real way to benchmark performance.

They do not help in any game which has not specifically been written to utilize the PPU.

Nobody knows about Physx vs. Havok FX (which is both nVidia and ATi). Havok FX hasn't really showed anything beyond tech demos, but their standard Havok physics engine easily has the largest current installed base of developers and games. So, it'd be wise to hold out on the purchase of a Physx card until at the very least there is a game you want available for it; otherwise you may end up with a $150 paper weight either because nothing supports it or Havok FX became the standard (who wants to be on the wrong side of a format war?).

nah, id never get an egeia. i was thinking of havoc, having 3 pci-e slots on my mobo etc. doesnt g80 have to have x16 bandwidth? or is that just g88? im looking into an 8600gt for physx if its any good.

I'm getting both, Havoc Physics and PhysX.
