I just bought one of these today. Anyone use em?

I will post some results when I get home and get a chance to install.

This thing is massive.
 
I grabbed it on my lunch break at Microcenter for $54.99

It was about on par with the other higher priced coolers without going wet.

Believe it or not, this one was actaully the "smaller" of the bunch.

I am upgrading from a stock P4 cooler, so I hope to be impressed.

my dp-102 performed better than my xp-120...

it is a great cooler...too bad it didnt fit my a64
 
I just finished the install. It actually fit my Albatron PX865PE Pro like a glove. Nice clearance all around. The fan closest to the backplane sits about 1/8th of an inch over the caps. (No tweaking required)

The front fan clears the DIMM sockets with about a 1/2". Better yet, I should be getting awesome air flow over my RAM now, as opposed to my old stock cooler which wasted air blowing at the board. My setup allows for front to back airflow, without setting the fans cockeyed.

The install took about 10 minutes for the sink itself, and was pretty straight forward.

I did have to re-route some wiring to make it pretty, but that is only because I am a techno weenie. (this thing is every bit of 4 inches from fan to fan)

Numbers:

Stock cooler:
Ambient case 35 idle
CPU 45 idle

Aerocool:
Ambient case 35 idle
CPU 40 idle

Setup:
Albatron PX865PE Pro (First Albatron I have owned, and so far they are cool)
P4 2.6c (at 3.25GHZ)
1.5GB GEIL Cheap ass RAM
FX6800 GT OC (4th BFG I have owned, and they kick ass)
Seagate SATA HDD, blah blah

This is where it gets interesting...

Under load the stock cooler hit 62, while the aerocool only hit 51 (ouch!)

It doesn't look all that impressive Idle thus far, but certainly keeps the load temp down.

Also, it drops the temp pretty quick from load to idle. (if it matters)

It might afford me another hundred or so MHZ, but that is yet to be seen.

~10 degree lower load temps, and slick installation.

For 55 bucks, and 625MHZ over stock, it isn't too shabby. Not the best, but good enough for me.

If you are looking for good air cooling, I guess this would be a good choice, just make sure you get the DP102 model (includes 2 80mm aluminum fans) I guess some of the older models only come with a single fan???
 
Jacked up to 3.4 and temps jumped slightly. I am looking at 46 idle now... with 36 ambient.

I am running at + .01v over on CPU and RAM.

I think I am gonna melt it. Oh well, I really want that 3.4 stock to play with.

This cooler isn't delivering anything near what the reviews say... One review claimed 34 at load running the same proc (2.6c) at 3.2 My idle is WAY higher than that, so they are either full of shiz, or they are working in a walk in freezer. My office is 30C max at any given time.

Honestly, I could have bought a dorm fridge for 55 bucks.

Live and learn I guess.

Most reviews I've seen for that cooler and most in general have an ambient temp of 22c :eek: , most rangeing from 20 to 25. I really hate it when they don't say what the ambient temp is, its annoying. :rolleyes:
 
AeroCool makes good stuff, I use a HT-101 and my overclocked 2500+ @ 2350 MHz runs idle at 42 C.
 
I am going to test this, but I am guessing the OEM (Intel) cooler will deliver identical numbers to this 55 dollar eye candy.
 
I am a collector of HS and naturally, found the Aerocool irresistable.
The performance was not what I had hoped for though, so it ended up gathering dust on my bench.
At work last week we got in some barebones SFF cases and on a whim I did some measuring...sure enough, the Aerocool would fit, so in it went.
Much better.

My theory is that the vertical orientation of the central heatpipe allows the technology to work as intended, a condition not met when installed normally (i.e, horizontally).
 
just dont move your case around with the 102 attached to the socket...
