I have a pair of Sennheiser HD485's and i love them my question is would i benefit from an amp or not?

Currently im running them off an X-FI and they sound great.
 
you should be fine, anything higher than an senn 600-650 series require amping, the model you have would benefit slightly but it would not be cost effective, enjoy your cans, and don't think about it.
