I'm putting together a little somethin-somethin' for a friend and I'm wondering which of these el-cheapo graphics processors will render the most detail and such:

ATI

*Radeon 9200 128MB AGP
*Radeon XPRESS 200 (integrated with micoATX motherboards)

Nvidia
*GeForce FX5200 128 AGP
*GeForce 6100 GPU and NVIDIA nForce 410 MCP (integrated with microATX motherboard)

He mostly games on 8-16bit emulators, but may want to try out some recent PC games like Star Wars: KotOR on the rare occasion and watch some dvd movies and torrent downloaded anime.

Help would be appreciated.

Peace

The 9200 of the FX5200 will probablly suit him fine, I would stay away from intergrated, as even the best can't even touch those two cards. save the money off the motherboard and just grab one of the two, which ever is cheaper.

I actually own and operate 3 machines, two of which are low end(a 400MHz celeron and a 866MHz celeron). I havn't used an ATI 9200 before, but I got a XFX GeForce 5200 PCI running in the 866 celeron, and it can handle everything the CPU can(not that thats saying much), but I think it is a quality card. The most demanding game I got on that machine is Call of Duty and it runs without a hiccup on some slightly higher than defualt settings, to give you an idea.

The 9550 would definitely be a better choice than a 9200 or FX5200. If you don't mind buying used, you might can score a 9600Pro for sale cheap.

I would say go for a used 9500pro or 9700 if you can...
