Hey, I'm in the middle of organising a new build and want some advice on graphics cards.

Specs - I7 920, GB EX58-UD4P, 256GB Solidata SSD (boot), 1 TB Seagate SATA (storage), 6GB DDR3 1600 GSkill, Gigabyte Superb 720W PSU, Lian Li PC-60FW, Pioneer 218 Sata DVD, LG Sata BluRay Writer.

OS - Windows Vista 64 (will be upgrading to Windows 7 when it arrives, have a free voucher).

Will be using the machine mainly for gaming, along with some general internet work etc.

Display is an Asus VK266H - so display and gaming resolution will be 1920 x 1200. Games I play right now are WOW, and Left For Dead. Looking to get into FarCry 2 and Fallout 3 next.

Obviously the GTX295 is the current uber card, but I doubt I will be needing that power at that res. So thinking either a GTX285 or a 4890....not really worried about cost or brand, just want the card that is going to give me the best performance without wasting money.

Reluctant to buy the GTX295 right now with the new 300 series cards due soon anyway....would depreciate faster than a...well, a fast depreciating thing!

Like I said, this is not really about cost...obviously blowing over $850 on a boot drive indicates I have some money to play with, just don't wanna spend money that doesn't need to be spent....especially with new cards on the horizon.

I'm in Australia and will probably buy from MSY.

Thoughts?
