Good morning,

Im purchasing a 26 or 27 inch LCD tv soon for primary use as an computer monitor (games, movies, some text work). I understand that the 1366x768 resolution is rather low, but i think i can deal with it, ill just crank up the antialiasing. I have some questions however.

This is my primary choice at the moment:

http://www.buydig.com/shop/product.aspx?sku=SYNLT26HVX#description

#1) The contrast ratio is listed as Contrast Ratio: 1600:1(dynamic), however, on the official spec sheet, it says 750:1. Which one is it, and what do they mean by dynamic.

#2) Will i be able to run it natively at 1366 x 768 through my SLI'd 7800GTs (i know ill have to add a custom res)

#3) Am i looking at the wrong tv. ive also considered several others, here is what i need
*DVI
*1366x768 (1280 x whatever just seems a bit too big, the extra 100 pixels help)
*Good for PC usage
*No ghosting (this is subjective as well, i see no ghosting on my 12ms 17inch lcd, so anything below 12ms is fine for me)
*650 dollars or under (approximately
*Decent vertical viewing angles

The other tv's i was considering were the

Syntax Olevia LT27HVX
ViewSonic's N2750w

Any others that people know of would be greatly appreciated.

My main problem is that specs are listed differently everywhere so i dont know what to believe.

I recently had a 26" Magnavox HDTV that I used as a computer monitor, Its native Res was 1280x768. I must say that it was a rather good monitor. I couldn't use DVI, PC only works on VGA connector. The Magnavox had 8ms refresh rate I think. That is what you need to look at when looking at a HDTV as a Computer monitor. alot of them have 25ms which will suck in games. The one you linked also has 8ms so it wouls be really good. 750:1 is also a really good Contrast ratio, the other one is just a marketing gimmick, kinda like saying, It is only 750:1 Contrast ratio but it looks like it has 1600:1. about the oly quistion I cant answer is running the Custom Resolution useing SLI as I have no experience with SLI.

Okay, thanks. Just sold my 17inch lcd and am looking to get a bit of an upgrade inches wise, i think 24 would be the minimum i could go and have it feel big. So assuming the res doesnt bug me (i hope it wont), i have to choose between one of these three :)

Seems like a good choice if you dont mind a lower resolution. I have the syntax 27" and it work flawlessly with 12ms response - never notice any ghosting . My only beef with my 27" is 1280X1024 is max res it can hit. I would call syntax and see if that model can reach higer resolutions (ask the max). If not I would hold out for a westinghouse 37" or a dell 3007wfp - or wait for a few months and see what other panels in your size are coming out. But by going the way of DELL or Westy you are looking at pricing in $1600 to 2000 range

so your 27 inch syntax wont run in widescreen res'es when attached to the PC?

Yah, my other alternative is a 2405fpw, if i can find one cheap enough (proving hard to do)

depends on the game - so far i have only tried on chronicles of riddick and it worked. I dont really like the wide screen looks (makes things look short and flat).

That sounds like its not scaling properly, the aspect ratio shouldnt change, it should just have a larger FOV (see more on either side).

that is a problem with almost any lcd with 1366x768 resolution

So are you saying that it wont run at 1366x768? as that would be what i would like to run it at. Naturally its not gonna run at anything higher than its max resolution

have you seen anyone claiming to have it running at 1:1 pixel mapping?

Im sort of new to this i hate to admit, this will be my first lcd tv, and widescreen both. Ive priorly worked with just lcd monitors which work are the resolutions they are advertised at without problems.

So im not even sure what one to one mapping is, sorry to be a newb. Ive googled it up and im not sure if it does or not

Found this on HTPCnews forums :(

"2. The LT26HVX is convinced it can only accept a 1280x1024 signal, so it takes the signal from the PC and scales it down to 1280x1024."

^^ thats not cool, guess im looking at another TV then. I already have a 17inch lcd that can do that, i want something more.

Although in some of the spec sheets for the LT26HVX they list this:

"PC Resolution Support 1366 x 768 "

Could there perhaps be multiple revisions of the same model number?
