We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.

Advice on Hosting services

Ok guys I am shopping around for a hosting provider for my VERY small site.

Up until now I have run my servers from home using a very affordable biz level cable connection. However where I am moving to I can not find an affordable ISP that will allow static ips and running of servers at a reasonable cost. So I am thinking that maybe I will just use a hosting company for my server needs.

My biggest need is for email hosting. I require IMAPS email with atleast 500 MB of storage space. More would be better. I need atleast 10 support for 10 email accounts. I also need support for multiple subdomains. Also require mailing list abilities.

For http hosting I would prefer apache with php and ssl abilities.

One site I am currently checking out is http://www.csoft.net/index.html.en

CubeSoft, anyone deal with them much?

Also note, my traffic is very low. Just a few users, nothing heavy.

hrmmm

http://geekisp.com maybe?
or check out the thread in this forum with hosting recommendations...

if you dont need uber bandwidth, I could do this all for you as well for free (I host some friends websites as well) I run off of home biz cable as well.

GeekISP looks good, very similiar to csoft.net

Anyone who has experience with any, your comments would be welcome :)

just some friendly advice...
I would be very leary of anyone who offers unlimited anything. Shell accounts are also a security concern: as who knows what the other folks on the server are trying to compile or "do" on a $5.00 a month shell account...

The hosting biz is full of smoke and mirrors; as most hosting companies are resellers of resellers. its like one giant Amway pyramid out there...

I am not saying the hosts mentioned in this thread are bad, as I have no knowledge of them, but I used to work in the industry... and I am suspicious of most. Just be careful before you give your credit card number to some kid who runs a hosting biz out of his bedroom..

the hosts mentioned in this thread could be great... just be cautious
www.pair.net is one company that is legit; they own their own servers and operate their own data center.
just 0.02 :)
