So I finally found the CPU I am going to use. I got my hands on a P4 3.0c that is doing 3.75 with a bump in voltage but after an hour or so with Prime95 it crashes and I believe it is due to heat so I am going to go with a water cooling setup. I am not looking for anything to extreme. My object here is to make my CPU a bit cooler so it will run more stable. I do not need to get it as cool as it can be and I am not looking for a heavy mod job on my case which is a Lan-Li 60 series case.
My ideas on my watercooling setup.
1 - Get a Zalman Reserator 1. From the reviews it seems like it will cool my CPU enough to run at those speeds stable, it will make a great coversation piece when the lady friends arer here, and it is totally silent. I am just a bit skeptical if actually works well.
2 - Koolance Exos AL Great reviews, will match my case well, and I believe it will give me the cooling I am looking for plus more with out any heavy mods. Plus it will give me a nice external unit that I can upgrade with better rads and pumps if the need ever comes along. Questions for Koolance setup are:
The koolance CPU cooler I would be using is the CPU-300-H06. It has 1/4" (6mm) internal diameter tubing so does that mean I can use any 1/4" ID CPU block with this setup? I thought I read once that you can only use Koolance blocks with this Exos system.
3 - Piece together my own setup. I have the Lan-Li 60 case so I need advice on which parts to get. How I would like to piece togehter water cooling setup in this case would be to move my 2 hard drives into the 5 1/4 external bays and use the bottom drive cage area to place the rad, pump, and res. So my questions for this setup are:
Does anyone know of a rad that will fit in the area where the two fans are located in the front of the case. I am thinking of using the area of the two stock fans to blow air onto the rad and then maybe fans to pull the air off. From there the pump and then I can use a Bayres or this other small res I saw.
Any input is welcome and thanks!
