I didn't know where else to post this...I suppose it fits here in general hardware.

I'm looking for a digital camer that has to have at minimum a 3x optical zoom and 3MP. It must also be as small as possible. I want to be able to print atleast 8x10's. Can anyone recommend the best of the best that's out there. Thanks in advance.

The Photography forum is the best place to discuss cameras, so off you go! :)

Ive had good results with a Sony dsc-P10. You can get it for 300 to 400 dollars. It goes up tp 5 megapixel and does great 8x10. The size is great. It fits in a pocket with no probs whatsoever. Give it a look.

If you want small, great quality, and good price, then i would have to go with the SD110

Its only 2x zoom, but still a great camera. If you are looking for that 3x zoom, and as well the bonus of 4mp than check out the Canon S410 http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=30-120-121&depa=0

or here for a few bux more with a 256meg SanDisk Ultra II CF Card

Thanks for you suggestions so far....keep them coming. So far I like the SD110 but it's only 2x optical zoom. I really try not to go into digital zoom because the shot becomes very pixelized. The S410 seems perfect for me but at 4MP it becomes a little bit over my price range which I failed to mention. I want to spend somewhere between $200 - $300.

The larger sensor definitely makes the 410 worth the extra premium over the 110. If you can spring for it the 410 is worth it.

Plus, the 410 takes less expensive memory format so it balances out a little.

I have three digital camera right now (DOnt ask whats the point of having three, i just do. :D ) I have S200, A80 and A75. And i plan to get D70 when i have enough money to spare.

A75 is THE BEST choice for you. Everything you mentioned, and it has a ton of more features than the Canon 'S series'. Its a bit bulkier than the S series because of the AA batteries, But its well worth it in features.

A80 is great too, but the price range may be a bit higher than you wanted. Also the swivel LCD is good but its smaller than the A75 and to tell you the truth i realy dont use the swivel lcd at all (Except to close it to keep from getting scratched.

Also with the A75 you can add Wide angel lens and telephoto lens. Its not canon EOS, but hey its a ton cheaper. :p You dont have the option to add lesn on the canon S series.

GO for the A75 you will NOT be disappointed.

Something I noticed when browsing through Canon's site was that the S60 has this underwater white balance feature. I try to go scuba diving once a year and thought this can come in usefull. Now I know this is way over my budget but I want to know if this is just a marketing ploy and can I do the same thing with say the A75 and WP-DC30 water proof casing?

Also Ariez can you tell me what features the A75 has over the S series?

As per www.powershot.com the A75 comes with

White Balance Control:
Auto, Pre-set (Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten, Fluorescent, Fluorescent H), or Custom White Balance

You could always just search out the proper custom white balance settings

Aperture settings, more scenery shooting modes (13 in all), more exposure time, manuel focus, you can shoot a lot closer macro shots, and thats all i can rememeber so far, but im sure there is a ton more.

EDIT: more optical, you can change lens, which the Sseries wont allow. The only benefit i see that the S series have over the A series is the size. But its just slighty bulkier.

well, the manual focus is pretty limited especially since it's a P&S, and you can only change the lenses on specially made Canon lens adapters which are expensive and only fit the specially made adapter lenses rather than any EF or L series lens from Canon ...

I'm convinced my "perfect" camera doesn't exist. I was checking out my friends bronze SD10 and I loved it as far as size. It's the perfect size for me, it's nice and small. But I would like some of the features of the A75 and all the underwater presets of the S60. I really like the A75 on features. But I don't like the bulk of the batteries. I'm pretty much stuck on this. But all in all I'm kind of leaning onto the S410 and spend the extra $30 - $40 bucks. What do you guys think before I go on and spend the cash? Does anyone know how good this camera is underwater?

I checked out the coolpix 3200 but I'm not crazy about it's design. I really like Canon's square design of the Elphs.

You have to at least check out this unique Kodak Digicam from DELL. Kodak are increasingly getting popular because of thier low price and quality in thier products.
I just recently bought a Kodak camera and am completely satisfied with my purchase.
While my digicam is not as good as this one mainly because mine is using the Kodak Retinar lens compared to this one which has incorporated the world renouned Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon lens. I kick myself in the butt just thinking about what I missed out just for saving a few bucks but YOU dont have to make the same mistake. The
Kodak EasyShare CX6445 Zoom Digital Camera is equipped with Kodak color science, the camera's 4.0 (effective) MP CCD generates high-resolution images for printing up to 20'' x 30'' prints. It speaks for itself and for a low price of $269.10 you cant say no.

BTW: For a limited time DELL is offering 10% off almost all the Electronics & Accessories which means even more savings for your Digital Camera needs.
Much Luck-HydrasunGQ.

TECK_CORE OUT!! ( Ryan Seacrest is soo gay!! )

I forgot to mention that the camera also make Quicktime movies that are as long as your MMC/SD storage card allows. SD in my opinion are probably the least expensive of the different classes of storage cards available. Here's an example: newegg.com has a Dane-Elec 256 MB SD card for $42 with FREE Fedex saver shipping. I plan on buying this card myself pretty soon. And as everything else hardware prices keep falling as the months go by and the market fellls the need to let go of "OLDER" products to put these new products in. So ultimately it's up to you HydrasunGQ, keep us updated on what DigiCam
you decided to buy.

I decided to splurge a little and spend a little more than I wanted. I ordered myself a Canon S500 for just under $400. From what I've read out there it seems to be a decent camera. Hopefully I won't regret it. I kinda decided to get this so that if I ever take big pictures I can crop them without losing quality. I know I could have gotten something else for the money with a lot more features, but I really do like the S500/410/400 compact design. I also like the fact that I can record video at 640x480 with this camera. Also I can use that waterproof housing on it if I ever go scuba diving. Which I would buy when I plan my next dive. Thanks to everyone for your advice and input.
