Hey Folks,
I planning to scrape together some parts and build a file server at home. I'm wondering if you guys can give me some suggestions. Might do a dual proc system just for the fun of it. I will probably use the server just to backup data from my 2 windows machines and my girlfriends linux box. I will probably use a windows OS (probably server 2000). I'll probably use it for a print server also. I doubt I will need more than 80gigs of space. I'd like to do a raid 5 for added fault tolerance.
Stuff I already have
1. Big full tower case (my dad gave it too me)
2. Lots of 20-40 gig IDE drives
3. A bunch of SCSI drives 9 gigs and 18 gigs (maybe a 36 gig)

I would like to build this on the cheap maybe 200-400 bucks. I'm thinking dual pentium 3's but I'm open to anything, AMD or Intel
Im a total noob when it comes to building servers but I've built tons of destops.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
ribs
