I've picked up the following for use as a JBOD - Chenbro RM41416 chassis (http://www.chenbro.com.tw/en-global/products/RackmountChassis/4U_Chassis/RM41416), it contains a SAS expander card - https://www.chenbro.com/en-global/products/Storage_Expansion_Kit/SAS_Expander_Card/CK22803, connected to its backplane.

The fans are 5x of these in middle -
FD128032HB-P 80mm
max airflow 69.4cfm
max static pressure 19.2 mm-h2o
noise 53dBa

and possibly 2 of same fans in rear.

PSU is 3x redundant model number m1z-6420p3

This was a good deal and includes everything I need for JBOD, but of course its too loud for an apartment. I don't want to spend too much effort or $$ on mods. There's a lot of info online about Supermicro cases like SC846 but not much on this.

I was thinking of replacing the 5 middle fans with low noise 80mm fans with sufficient airflow/pressure for the drives. I found 2 options - Arctic P8 Max, and their server version S8038-7K/10K fans. My hope is it can be a drop in replacement. don't know how easy/costly it is to get 120mm fans + fan wall like in SM.

Also I don't know how fan speed is controlled? these are 4pin pwm but there's no motherboard since its a Jbod.

I couldn't find any info on whether there's a quiet version of PSU like SQ, so just planning to use 1 and leave other 2 unplugged.

Has anyone worked with this chassis, any other tips?
