Adobe is the savior of FOSS.

In a twist of most irony, with respect to certain FOSS users.

1. I repeat the title of this post again. Adobe is the savior of FOSS.

2. Due to Tablet Computing, everybody now aware

2a. Microsoft plans on need-2-more-years Windows 8 to address.

2b. In the mean time, Intel/AMD have no one to turn to while seeing Cortex processors balloning in numbers

2c. Current free distro is no match for iOS/Android per user interface attraction for the mass populace as new interest.

2d. In a glimmer of hope, MeeGo I am Go is coming forward to help defend the line.

2e. Again, with no other strong holds defensible, behold the Adobe Flash to shine its path.

2f. OOps, there is a problem. The GUI stacks on FOSS. There are many issues, and mostly they are not being paid to track the latest and greatest, relevant to their proprietary Windows counterpart.

2g. As Intel/AMD need full-focus to address the incoming flush of Cortex droids, and they actually need ASAP, the entire x86 industry now demands FOSS to get its act together

3. Thus in this twist, due to indirect needs of Adobe Flash + GPU Offloading, and tablet computing combination so many want to believe, Intel/AMD now have to get aggressive on FOSS GPU stack improvement.

4. Back to topic, Adobe Flash is the savior of FOSS.

Result : Adobe + FOSS will live happily ever after. :)

Cheers. (you do know I am not really serious, right?) :)

Just an update

1. Apple iPad officially remains firm on Flash policy

2. Microsoft suggests IE for Metro ARM - no plug-in. HTML5 preferred.

So the FOSS crowd and Adobe found each other, most unusual, because FOSS crowd were bad-mouthing Adobe Flash in the beginning, and Adobe paid lip service to FOSS OS platforms in the early Flash development.

FOSS - the hardcore system oriented automaton, and Adobe, the domain of the Artisan

FOSS needs a soft touch, and Adobe needs fine-grain technicality in keeping Adobe Flash relevant and making progress.

3. Adobe prepares Flash 11 for massive improvement/enhancement.

4. The full-scale of capitalism in display. After re-alignment and counter-measures, Nokia bolted. Intel found Windows 8 Metro and Android as insurance. MeeGo ponders...

5. Summary / Android - Adobe Flash for tablet / [also standard FOSS Distro ]

Cheers

Update 2 : Adobe announces more consumer-semi-productivity-oriented tablet applications

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news/2011/10/adobe-announces-new-tablet-apps-and-cloud-service.ars

1. Adobe is the Torch Holder of computing frontier.

2. Due to Google/Adobe leading the way, now Android, in sync with iOS, beginning front-loading next phase of semi-productivity tools, in addition to productivity apps such as those included by Lenovo ThinkPad android tablets, and others...

3. Again Google and Adobe are both resource rich for some sustained efforts.

4. In addition, seeing there are many pro-Flash crowds during the iOS/Flash debate in this forum, there must be a path forward

5. Not only that, think about the distance between Adobe Creative Suite for Windows/Macintosh and the just introduced Adobe Touch Suite, there must be ample area for growth...even Microsoft can see that, as for Apple, it already does.

In summary, thanks to Adobe, the computing world is now back to partial balance...

1. MicroKia / Apple / Googlerola+Adobian+(Amazon/B&N)+alliance...

Now is the best time for AMD

1. Quietly lock up some options and arrangement

2. Announce intention to transfer Adobe Flash Player for Mobile from Adobe to AMD

3. Announce it will work ONLY with certain combination, unless 3rd party is willing to substantiate with generous contribution.

4. Contact AMD, or else ARM, else MIPS (see who is more incline to go with this scheme)

5. Since all major software players already announce transition to HTML5, this should not upset anybody, even Adobe itself is transitioning to HTML5, as announced.

6. Scenario
6.1 A--> all who need mobile Flash Player now need to go with combination X, since the industry is saying HTML5, least likely to upset most, only those who really need it will pay for it. AMD/ARM/MIPS can get some Mobile Flash revenue per software and hardware. For that matter, even Intel can do this but I suppose margin is the consideration.

6.2 B--> If it turns out actually industry is saying one thing while doing another, some will value Adobe Flash for Mobile.
6.2.1 Then someone has to come to rescue ala "Adobe Flash Player for Mobile"
6.2.2 Then Adobe can decide for itself whether it meant what it says, then Adobe is abandoning Adobe Flash for Mobile. If it is, it will unload "Adobe Flash Player for Mobile" at reasonable price, or arrangement. In that case, see point 1 first.
6.3 If Adobe decide to continue even under such circumstances, then either Adobe Flash Player does have a future, or else Adobe still views highly of Adobe Flash for Mobile.

Again, since many major parties already opted for non-Flash route, this should not upset a lot of people, only those in need will consider plotting a viable path forward.

^^^ ya i agree.

Adobe and flash is screwed , adobe just dropped mobil flash finally admitting defeat and is now pushing for html5...

Flash is sluggish, glitchy shit. The sooner it is replaced, the better!

I realize that the [H]ard|forum in general is full of people that hate Apple, but they're the ones that pushed for this and I personally am really happy that they did.
It's about time we moved to a better standard. I liked Flash in the sense of what it does/did for web development in terms of visuals, but over time it has proven itself to be buggy and unreliable. Not to mention it's lack of hardware acceleration is appalling and wrecks havoc on mobile devices.

.

Hi, this is just a generic conversation. Hope it is OK. Refer to your quote message, see, to accomplish something based on "full of people that hate Apple", omit the Apple part and you see the "hate" part, to accomplish something based on "hate" perhaps requires careful assessment.

It's about time we moved to a better standard. I liked Flash in the sense of what it does/did for web development in terms of visuals, but over time it has proven itself to be buggy and unreliable. Not to mention it's lack of hardware acceleration is appalling and wrecks havoc on mobile devices.

Here it is reasonable and sensible. Indeed many have valid observation about problematic points raised here. Hence the Flash platform is assessed on its own strength. You also acknowledge Flash gives boost to Internet visual experience.

Hence the original observation

1. In the new paradigm, iOS does not support Flash
2. In the new paradigm, Windows 8 Metro mode, Flash plugin is not supported.
3. In the new paradigm, Windows, Macintosh, Linux desktops and misc still support Flash. All primary vendors do not include Flash in its default config.
Here we can observe that Flash is left to its own arrangement.
4. Hence now it is good observation where product sits on its own strength.

5. It appears for sometimes, a lot of people still need Flash Player
6. It appears for sometimes, a lot of users still like Flash
7. Most importantly, there are a lot of options now
7.1 If you do not believe in Flash, you can go alternative ways easily. All major platforms are going HTML5. iOS, Windows 8, WP7, even MeeGo/Tizen changing to HTML5 development.
7.2 If you do believe in Flash, you also have various options in BlackBerry, Android devices, various desktops of miscellaneous supported OS environments.

8. Since Mobile Flash is, as indicated, complicated, then it is wise to restrict it to companies willing to so such work. Example of similar nature
8.1 Nokia outsource Symbian arrangement to 3rd party.
8.2 Hence if there is still viable Flash presence, some are more than willing to do it if circumstances is correct, here specifically Adobe Flash for Mobile.

9. However, it is true mobile pace is very rapid currently. It is a huge undertaking to address all devices.
9.1 By limiting to maybe a few devices, it can streamline and solidify the support arrangement.
9.2 For example, if only BlackBerry devices continues to support Flash, then people who really value Flash will go to them. Since the device list is limited, Mobile Flash can be better supported.
9.3 Since all major players announce they are ditching Mobile Flash and moving to HTML5, very few should complaint.
9.4 Similarly, you can do for a few commited Android devices.

10. Now for the optional part.

10.1 As for software developers, IT industry has a natural orientation. They are not wrong. This is an acknowledgement. They all prefer having some kind of uni-direction.
10.2 If you believe strongly in HTML5, then you go HTML5
10.3 If you feel Flash is still viable, you can continue to use Flash.
10.4 If you do not believe in either, you can believe in Apple iOS Apps (objective C)
10.5 If you believe in Microsoft, Microsoft will always find a way for you to believe.
10.6 If you opted none of the above, mobile/desktop technologies are less of a conceren to you, then server environment/Linux/FreeBSD/Oracle/HP/IBM/misc... Java,C, C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, PHP and other things are on your mind.
10.7 Else you can try Google, which obviously is having various schemes, including native client

Edit : In this way, all options progress on own merits and market acceptance, (note here Flash originally seek to improve web Visual experience, which is still a valid point till today). less regret on any party.

Obviously embedded in every option is the willingness of owners to continue resource engagement. If Adobe is no longer willing to substantiate Adobe Mobile Flash, then post #4 above can be an option under suitable arrangement.

Hence according to the latest news, it appears

1. Adobe intends to ship Adobe Flash Player for Mobile for Android 4.x
2. it seems some do value Flash Player for Mobile.

3. In the iOS vs Adobe Flash debate, a lot of users here are out in force to suggest Flash offers additional viewing options. From there we know there are still major silent group giving thought to having Flash experience.
4. It sure sounds viable enough to have Adobe engage itself for additional release.

Remember there are a lot of options so nobody is being forced to choose one over another, the frequent mantra of free reasonable choices.

In addition, Adobe donated Flex SDK.
