Adobe says that it is not sure when a fix will be ready for the critical flaw in its products that could lead to your system being hijacked by hackers. The company hopes to have a fix available by the end of the month.

In an October 5 posting on its Web site, Adobe said the "critical" flaw is incorporated into versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat software, and could allow malicious programs to get on to a PC without the user knowing about it.

Adobe makes very useful softwares.

Acrobat (pdf), Flash, Premiere, Photoshop, etc...

But if Adobe would be a person he would be an asshole.

Just read the posts on Flash for 64-bit OS and you will
find arrogance and ignorance. Plus if you read between
the lines it seems none of their stuff is well written because
they continuously repeat that it's not it's not trivial getting it to
work in 64-bit... Sure but after more than 2 years for Flash?

Yet another reason why I use Foxit Reader.

what he said ;) I HATE acrobat. Pretty much 90% of all my lecture notes and labs are on pdf, which made me use acrobat a ton, which in turn made me loath it. So I found an alternative :)

They are arrogant all around. They don't like to admit fault with their code. My company use Adobe Acrobat to create PDF's but one by one, the employees lose the ability to use it when it closes in exactly 10 seconds after you open it. The fault lies in Adobe's authentication server. Adobe insisted forever that the people who failed authentication were pirates, and that there was nothing wrong with their servers.

Fuck em. They can take the thousands of dollars they took from us in purchased software and shove it deep.

I switched all of my employees to CutePDF and taught them all how to use their normal production software (Primavera, Word, Excel, etc.) to create their work, and print as PDF.

Never looked back since.
