Adding barbs to heatercore

My dirt-cheap ebay heatercore has a unfortunately large set of barbs (17mm OD, 15.5mm ID). What would be the easiest way of hooking this up to a normal 1/2" tubing loop? I've heard of people cutting off the existing tubing and epoxying barbs directly on to the radiator, but I'm not quite sure how to go about this without clogging the radiator internals with resin or springing leaks everywhere.
The radiator itself is 140mm x 160mm x 50mm, hopefully sufficient for an E8400 + GPU
 
you could try your hand at soldering. That's what I did, however I had previous plumbing experience. I cut the tubes shorter and soldered 1/2" fittings on. You'll need a blowtorch, some pipe solder, sandpaper and some flux.
Cut and file your tubes to the desired length. Use the sandpaper to rough up and clean the areas you want soldered, so the end of the tubes plus the fittings, both inside and out. Now put the flux on the outside and inside of the tubes and fittings. slide the fittings onto the tubes. If they are equal diameter you'll have to find some way to hold the pieces together during soldering, or taper the tubes with your file and try to get one to slip into the other. Fire up the torch and heat up the tubes and fittings a bit, make sure to move the heat around, never let it sit on one spot for too long. Now take the solder, it usually comes in a coil, roll a couple of inches off the roll so it sticks out. While still applying heat to both the fittings and tubes press the end of the solder onto the joint, if the solder doesn't melt you need more heat. Don't put the solder into the flame, it'll just make a mess. Solder flows to heat, so you need to have even heat in both the tubes and fittings. When the solder does melt and run move it to circle the joint. Don't make the tubes too short becuase sometimes they are soldered in and you'll melt that solder when trying to do the new joint.

It's really not hard, do a few practice runs with the tube you cut off initially. It also looks a lot more clean and an epoxy job. If you get too much solder on the joint and it looks like crap you can use a file and sandpaper to smooth it down.
