The setup I've been using has been:

Desktop or Dell XPS 13 --> Massdrop ODAC --> Schiit Magni 2 Uber --> SMSL SA50 --> 2 * Pioneer SP-BS22-LR

Its worked and sounded great. However, I'm going to be adding a 2017 Nvidia Shield TV and an Xbox One S (impulse buy from Ebay). I'm trying to figure out if my current setup can be modified to accomodate them, or am I going to have to scrap it all and replace with a receiver. The Shield TV supports USB DACs, but the Xbox One S doesn't.

All video is being fed into a Samsung 40-inch KU6290. It has an optical out. I'm thinking I could swap out the ODAC with a Schiit Modi 2, and have my desktop or laptop use its USB input while everything else uses the optical input via the TV. My only concern is whether the optical-out is a direct pass through of the HDMI digital audio (stereo sound only, of course)?
