Not sure if this was seen but,

https://adblockplus.org/en/acceptable-ads

A new update has switched the default to showing "Acceptable Ads" which allows whitelisted ads to appear on sites that are deemed non intrusive to the site. Might be worth checking into getting the ads on the list for here since a lot of people are not likely to turn it off of the default.

Figured I would pass it along.

Yeah, their criteria seem a bit oppressive:

Static advertisements only (no animations, sounds or similar)
Preferably text only, no attention-grabbing images

So you can have ads, they just can't be remotely attention getting or attractive. Kind of defeats the point doesn't it?

Wladimir caved to the tremendous amount of heat he was getting from advertisers and websites. When I switched to Chrome from FF I started using AdBlock and the transition has been seamless.

In fairness, outside of H most animated ads are flipping obnoxious. Ofc, H does a great job minimizing ad annoyance.

Yea, no idea. I just figured I would pass it along as if it was doable could help out. :)

Well the best way to help it, is if you're using adblock (btw, please see the forum rules before you admit you do), whitelist [H]. As was mentioned above, the ads here are not annoying and I can say first hand I've personally found some great deals through them.

Oh yea, for sure. Just your average user wouldn't do that if they are using something like adblock, like some new visitor who doesn't know any better. If it was possible this could help in certain scenarios and increase eyes on, especially since it is the new default :)

To be fair, there were two things that ultimately caused me to use Adblock in the first place.
-one was an advertisement on Thottbot that had an obnoxious noise that would play all the time
-the other was all the advertising malware I was getting on my PC. Advertisers would claim that their ads didn't do this, but adblock greatly cut down on my malware issues. It's now part of a layered defense.

With that said, I understand the importance of advertising revenue. For websites that I trust (like [H]), they immediately go on my whitelist. And yes, the advertisements on this website are not intrusive.
