I'm getting this from windows event viewer: AMLI: acpi bios is attempting to write to an illegal io port address (0x4d1) which lies in the 0x4d0 -0x4d1 protected address range This could lead to system instability
the system boots about half the time after a fresh XP install, also I'm getting this error randomly: the problem seems to be caused by the following file: partmgr.sys in page_fault_in_nonpaged_area
The Memory checks out ok in memtest86 twice and the hdd chkdsked ok with no errors and SMART check is ok and the proc is back at stock speeds
The motherboard is in the sig
Help?
edit: found this : http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/system/pnppwr/powermgmt/biosaml.mspx?gssnb=1
*0x4D0 0x4D1
PIC Edge/Level Control Registers
Access is never allowed*
Why would it start doing this now?
edit2: updated the bios from V1.7 to V1.8 still no difference
