Hey guys,

I just got an acer AL1916W widescreen lcd monitor, and i can't run it in the native resolution of 1440x900. I think perhaps its an issue with my onboard video and its not compatible? My display driver is VIA/S3G UniChrome Pro IGP and i have a gigabyte motherboard. I've tried powerstrip and it won't go beyond 1280x768. That setting looks like crap and currently i have to run 1024x768. My "S3Display" still tinks the only display device is a CRT monitor. I plugged it in using the normal cable, not the DVI. I updatted the drivers for the monitor from Acer and i updatted the display driver. Does anyone know the problem and why i can't use a higher or the native resolution for the monitor? could it be a compatibility issue?

I went into the BIOS, and the video memory was already on its highest setting 64M.

Interesting. If the onboard system has an incompatibility, it's time to shell out some cash for a video card that will run the native resolution that the AL1916W has. You're not the only one that has the widescreen issue with the VIA graphics. ;)

try buying a cheap video card that supports 'custom resolutions' a 7300le or something along those lines should work.

Cool thanks guys i guess i'm going to pony up and get a new card. i don't play games so i have lasted this long without one. thanks for the help!
