Accounts Lost Completely?

I have two buddies of mine who lost their accounts completely and cannot log in. They had to sign up again and are currently waiting for approval again.

Is this due to the outage? Is losing accounts all-together something to be expected with any future losses of data?

Just curious, because I've never seen that happen unless someone lost their entire database, where actual user accounts disappeared.

I hope they're able to sign up/get approved again.
 
Apparently, they had to roll back to a database copy from of couple weeks ago. New registrations during that time were also apparently lost. Your friends should be able to re-reg again just fine. :)
