Hey guys, I have an AC7Pro on a Q9550 + DS3R combo stock (no OC). I'm checking my core temps in Speedfan and at idle, they're at:

Core 0: 35C
Core 1: 35C
Core 2: 41C
Core 3: 36C

I'm curious as to why Core 2 is so much higher than the rest. Could it be because of the thermal paste not being even?

Are these temps safe? I'm thinking of modding some of my fans so they're quieter (7v mod), but I'm not sure I should because of the temps.

I just did the 7v mod to all the 120mm case fans and core temps at idle are all up ~2C.

Core 0: 37C
Core 1: 37C
Core 2: 43C
Core 3: 37C
 
Those temps were using SpeedFan. I'm using Real Temp now.

I did the 7v mod to 7 120mm fans in my case earlier today, so the conditions aren't the same as above.

Real Temp 2.0
Core 1: 33C
Core 2: 33C
Core 3: 39C
Core 4: 34C

I ran the Intel Burn Test 10 times, which took about 30 minutes and my max temps were:

Core 1: 55C
Core 2: 55C
Core 3: 57C
Core 4: 53C

I'm not sure why there's a 6C difference between Core 2 and Cores 0, 1, and 3. But the temps are pretty safe to me. Do you think it's because of a bad connection in one corner of the cpu/heatsink?
 
Variations between core temperatures like that are very common, and there's absolutely nothing to worry about.
