i ve started hearing about mobile athlon xp cpus used for overclocking, i have a few questions

1- why is it better?
2- does it generate less heat?
3- is it the same performance as a regular same speed desktop cpu?
4- whats the approximate price difference?
5- does it fit regular socket A motherboards?
6- whats different about its sizes?
7- how well does it overclock?, approximately
8- are they common?, can i buy them at most computer stores and newegg and such?
9- is there also bartons mobile cpus? and what about regular non-barton ones?

thanks...i have more questions but i keep forgetting so i ll ask it when i remember

To be honest. My M-2400 sucks ass.

My max speed was 2400mhz and it was horribly unstable.

It's at 2133 now and it needs 1.65 volts to be stable, while other people only need around 1.58.

Maybe it's a dud, maybe it's my PSU, i dunno. But i'm not impressed.

1- uses a lower stock voltage (1.45v) so you get 0.2v extra headroom when overclocking.
2- MHz for MHz, yes.
3- yes
4- about $10
5- yes
6- nothing
7- some get 2700MHz with the IQY* stepping. 2500ish with the IQX*.
8- pretty much any larger retailer will have em.
9- the ones everyone are getting are Bartons. havent heard a thing about Tbred mobiles.

MrFace, you still need to raise the voltage dude, and hopefully your temps are under 50. i dont know of anyone getting much out of 1.65v anyway.

is that $10 more or $10 less?

whats the IQY* stepping? whats the IQX*?

what does it look differently physically?, like shape of core, etc?

10$ more than a desktop barton

it looks the same...its just on a different buss (266 vs 333) shape is the same color sam etc etc....only physical difference is the lower voltage....nothing more...Mobile Silicon is the cream of the crop..the best of the best...hands down..able to operate at a "high" speed with lower voltage just rocks
