Hi,

I am doing a little research about the performance impact while using AA and AF versus screen resolution. I am looking at some of the benchmarks and re-arranging some of the numbers so that I can actually see the difference in % between 0x, 2x, 4x and 8x at any given resolutions.

From my understanding, it depends on the videocard and the actual game rendering engine. So far, my tests showed linear degradation across different resolutions and an average 18% decrease from 0x to 4x in the following games.

Does someone have some more information on this? I am curious to know the actual impact AA and AF has on framerate. From those statistics, it kind of proves that you better be playing with higher screen resolution and lower IQ than smaller res with higher IQ (aa and af). What is the sweetspot between screenresolution and IQ? I guess it depends on what makes a better experience, higher framerate with less IQ or higher IQ with acceptable framerate.

Example: 60hz 24inch lcd running at 60fps vsync @ 1920x1200 noAA, noAF or 40fps @ 1920x1200 4xAA 16xAF or 50fps @ 1680x1050 4xAA 16xAF)
