• Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.

Install CrystalDiskInfo and see if the drive believes it is operating abnormally.

Either that or download the free trial of HDTune Pro.

If you're under warranty it sounds like you'll be getting a new drive.

Does anyone know what this error means? It's from a Dell Inspiron HDD error:

32zm2x4.jpg

http://www.dell.com/support/Article/us/en/19/SLN288966/EN
2000-0142 Hard Drive (d) - S/N (s), self test unsuccessful. Status = (x)

Power down system.
Disconnect and reconnect hard drive from System Board & Hard Drive.
Run ePSA again, if no error occurs there is a possible issue with the cable or the connector.
Connect SATA cable to another SATA port on the Motherboard.
Update to the latest BIOS version. Refer to the Dell Support site to download the latest BIOS revision for your system.
For help on how to update the BIOS, refer to Article 606787
If available, replace with a verified working cable and rerun ePSA Diagnostics.
Run Check Disk Repair from the Command Prompt. >C:\chkdsk/r/f
Run a full format on the Hard Drive and reinstall the operating system.

basically your filesystem integration is kind of corrupted.
my suggestion:
1) run diskinfo (my fav all time on windows or smartctl on linux system). Vefiy relocated sector error and pending sector are nada/zip/zero
2) follow instruction from dell that I copied
