I find JV16 power tools (old version is freeware) scrubs the disk very clean. It is a very slow process, but after scrubbing the partition, I couldn't recover anything. scrub it more than once to be sure

Use the DBAN with the Gutman process. Nothing will ever be recovered from that drive unless the CIA or NSA is doing the recovery.

just wondering, how messed up would a drive get if you say microwaved it or put it next to a large magnetic field, say one of these guys
