Hi

This is the most extremely odd thing ever.

My Dad's computer will not boot. You push the power button and nothing. however, occaisionally it will boot. I cant figure it out. I did a complete hardware rebuild, worked for a while, and now its doing it again. I replaced the power supply with a new one, still the same. Maybe it needs a more powerful PS? No clue here, would apreciate any ideas.

Heres what its (not) running

AMD Duron 1.2GHz
256 MB PC2100 DDR
40 GB Maxtor 5400rpm hdd
ATI Rage Fury Pro 32MB Video
Liteon DVD 16x
Sparkle 300 watt PS
Win XP pro

Thanks for any replies

ummm, is it plugged into a power strip/ surge protector? try connecting it straight to the wall or through a different outlet. the power supply should definately be enough wattage.

yes thats what i thought as well, but ive plugged it in at different houses, wall and surge protectors, same thing. Also note that i tested it while rebuilding, and it booted until i plugged power into hdd...any clue there?

Thanks for reply

try using a different IDE channel just to test it out. u sure ur hard drive is set to master and all the obvious stuff.
see if you can borrow a hard drive from someone and try out the comp.
