Perhaps some of you already figured that out but I still want to share my experience.
The other day I installed a water cooling system. When I put everything back together, I plugged my video card (ASUS V9980) and my HDD on the same "line". Lack of vocabulary here.
Everything was fine except when putting a load on the VGA. I went through a lot of tests including trying the onboard VGA, trying the V9980 on a friend's rig, etc.
Suddenly, I gave a last check to my setup and everything went clear. The video card was sucking enough power to render the HDD inoperable.
A simple reminder to you all with massive video cards...
