A Program to Clear out RAM?

I was wondering if anyone could link me to a program that cleaned out my RAM.

For example, I would run this after playing a game, so that I didn't have to restart to "refresh" the RAM.

Thank you.

wow, I never knew you can "refresh" your ram. No wonder when I play warcraft 3 without rebooting, it crashes.

...maybe a better question would be; "...why do I HAVE to refresh my RAM...??"

I run many, many windows in XP; games, e-mail, forum stuff....and reboot every four or five weeks. Maybe. I will say that instability is one thing that makes me crazy....and, I've worked pretty hard to make sure my system behaves like I "think" it should.

Time to re-install your OS...?? You tell us......

off tweak3d.net, i wrote a script to refresh my ram

just write it in notepad and save it as memory.vbs
this is what you type in

Mystring = (80000000)

that's all...^_^ works fine for me.

I'm not sure BBS. I have 768mb of RAM in my Athlon and it slugs when I get out of things like Simcity 4 and BF1942, completely slugs. Even on a fresh install of XP Pro, with all the updates.

Do you do anything special when you install?

Do any of you guys have a problem with the new cacheman XP in which whenever you restart your resolution switches to 640x480 as long as the program is installed?

Powerstrip can also do it, so if any of you are using it to oc your video card's then it might be easier than dling another program.

I got powerstrip, how do you activate it this feature? or does it do it automatically?

I am actually having the same problem, so I picked up more ram the other day and it's happening less often now...but still happening gonna try one of the programs listed above

I'm not running the most recent version of it, but all I have to do to get it to work is:

1. Right click on taskbar icon
2. Go up to "Options" at the top
3. After options, go to "Resource Manager"
4. Click "Recover Memory Now"

True, but the problem lies with the fact that there are many programs with memory leaks. Or programs which don't like to release ram just because they're stubborn. XP is also known for using up a lot of ram that it doesn't really need. AnalogX MaxMem goes about forcing XP (you can set it's aggressiveness, I'm at default) and any other program which doesn't need stuff in the memory out of said memory. Like if you're playing a game, and the game is running, but it doesn't need certain things and hasn't used them. MaxMem can force it out, and this gives up more ram for other things the game might need it for.

It's all a matter of personnel preference. Every system is different. Certain systems (like yours) may not be affected by system straining games/apps and don't need reboots. Other games are. I know on my old PC I used to have to reboot after gaming up BF42 for awhile (it had PC800 512meg), with MaxMem (or insert other ram refresher) I don't need any reboot, infact, I can game for days if I wanted to, because it's constantly forcing unused stuff out.

You and I both have 1gig of Ram. So we could go without. But the people running below 1gig are often short on memory. Hell, BF42 wants all of it, and it wants it all now. That game is a memory hog and a half. I generally have 78% free of ram, but when playing BF42, try 0%. So the rule of thumb. 512meg or lower = You should look into it. Around 1gig = Optional. Over 1gig = You won't need it.

My bad. I never felt the need to update my Powerstrip since it works just fine the way it is. Always good to mess around with new software though:D, especially when the old software doesn't do what you need.
