A headset for gaming?

Hi. I recently built a pc, however the speakers in my monitor are tinny and my house is small, so I need some headphones. I will spend anything up to £130 but would look to spend less now and upgrade later. The three I have seen so far are:

Turtle beach x12(£24): cheap, decent enough but not the greatest headset

Plantronics gamecom 780(£40): Middle of the road of these three, decent sound quality, but some complaints on comfort side, from some sources.

Corsair vengeance 1500(£60): Good sound quality and comfort, at least according to most but leaves me with less money for games, or possibly a sound card, but that's a discussion for another day, unless anyone has strong views on the matter.

I may be way off with these, so any guidance would be much appreciated. What headset should I buy, baring in mind that this headset will be used almost solely for gaming, with some netflix/youtube and very occasionally music. Sound quality is my primary concern.

Search for Sennheiser 419 or 428 and 429 headphones and see what those will cost you. On a budget a pair of those and something like a Asus DGX would be a good combo.

I agree with spaceman try the Sennheiser first. Out of those I do own a corsair vengeance 1500 and it's pretty good, It dosen't compete with audiophile headphones by any means. On the upside it connects to USB and has its own DAC in it, so you don't need to buy a sound card.

One other set I have been recommended is Creative aurvana live, along with a Xonar DG. Any thoughts, both generally and compared with the Sennheisers?

Sennheiser makes the best all around headphones for gaming. The Creative headset is ok but not as good or as sturdy imo. Xonar DG and DGX are essentially the same model. The DGX is the newer model. It is ok and much better than onboard sound. The Creative Z or Zx is the benchmark for gaming sound cards.

Would a sennhesier 439 and a Dgx be a good option? Or should I spend more on the card and less on the headphones?

Of the headphones you mentioned I would go for the Creative Aurvana live. Another headphone you might consider are the superlux 668B. I haven't heard them myself but they get great reviews.

And I would get the creative Z over the DG or DGX. Much better gaming sound.

Well yes, but its also £50 more expensive. I could get that money, but its £50 less for games. How large is the difference with the headphones I am looking at?

You can buy the OEM version of the Z if you don't need the mic or the EMI shield. And I was going by your budget of £130.

I have the JVC-HARX900's they are about the same price as the Creative Aurvana live. The Z was a huge upgrade for me over the DG with my headphones.

I can afford it, but no need to spend unnecessary money. However if its worth it, then I will get it. Guess I'll pick up the Z

There market is increasingly filled with so called "Audiophile" and "Premium" products. Often the products are marketed by reputable peripheral brands such as Corsair and Logitech, but too often these products 100% contracted out and manufactured by the lowest Chinese producer.

Famous audio brands like Bose, Sony, Sennheiser, JVC, and others are following suite in order to compete. Even worse, aggressive and effective marketing has led many people to believe brands such as Monster/Beats are some of the best money can buy.

There is nothing like flipping over your $400 headphones and peeling off that "Hecho in China" sticker. My advice, spend the money now, buy something high quality that you can enjoy for years and repair if it ever breaks. In the end you would have probably spent the same amount of money buying replacement "premium" products for your broken "premium products".

Headphones are easy. Headsets are tough. There are very few high quality Headphones + Microphone still made with care and quality in their own factory, in their country. Most people who go down this path get a nice set of "cans" and pair it with a cheap clip on microphone.

I wanted a dedicated headset and personally I chose a pair of BeyerDynamic MX300. They are "Made in the Deutschland", great materials, great craftsmanship, and just about the only headset that can compete with the true audiophile headphone crowd.

Iam on the same cart as op.
Getting hp + sound card or dac (sb z mostlu)

Or just getting one more expensive headset with its own dać and usb connected.

To i don't want microphone. ... And i would like the hp to also be connectable to console.


As for now sb z + cal! Seems best. Option for sound quality and price... To cal build is terrible
