1. I ordered parts for a new system, and it has a raptor. I am planning on getting a storage drive for it, but I am wondering how to install it. do you just put it in, windows recognizes it, and it appears in my computer....then you just right click and format it? or is it more complicated?

2. Does the Sata controller on the Abit NF7-s motherboard support drives above 137GB?

3. Does windows 200 pro with all the service packs support drives above 137GB?

4. Is there a performance difference on the Sata controller on the Abit NF7-s motherboard between Primary and Secondary? on the IDE channel I know there is, but.......?

thanks

1.) You might have to use a SATA driver disk depending.

2.) Yes

3.) Yes, with Service Pack 3 and newer, Win 2K can support 137 GB and over drives.

4.) IDE channel performance difference is old; Maximum PC tested this and found that there was negligible performance differences between hooking drives to the secondary and primary IDE channels. WIth SATA, I don't think there's a problem either.

1. this brings up another question....You have to use the Sata controller drivers on the floppy for my raptor. Would this be installing all the needed sata drivers for the sata controller, or is that more of a temperary thing till I get the OS installed.

2. right on.

3. right on

4. I heard different, but I could be wrong.
