I want to run dual monitors and have a few questions. I did search and found only one of the answers I was looking for.

Do the monitors have to be the exact same make/model to work? They will be the same size running at the same rez and refresh so does make/model matter?

Can one be VGA while the other is DVI? Will this cause a conflict at all?

If I'm running a game at the desktop rez will whatever is showing on the other monitor become all distorted? ie, if I have firefox open on the second monitor will I still be able to read it? Will it "zoom" in for some reason? I've seen that happen before and was just wondering what caused that.

If I am running two monitors will it cause lower fps in games because its putting out two pictures instead of one?

Thats all I can think of for now. Thanks in advance guys :)

No, they don't even need to be running at the same resolution and/or refresh rate. It should work fine. I even use my TV as a second monitor sometimes. :)

Of course, so long as your video card or video cards have the outputs you can use them.

This shouldn't happen at all. The only thing that could cause something like this would be a poorly programmed game that somehow takes control of the second display.

Yes, but only as the result of whatever program(s) you are running on the second display. If you have a copy of notepad open on the second display obviously it won't use hardly any system resources and so it won't affect your game at all. On the other hand if you have Photoshop open with a 100MB bitmap file open, that's going to affect your game a bit. ;)

The only thing I plan on doing on the second monitor is surfing around on the internet, AIM, and running winamp in the background. So is it safe to say I would have about the same performance?

The reason for me asking this was because my video card has one of each output.

Thanks for the help!:) And thanks for the speedy answer too:)
