What would be a equvialent replacement of Eheim compact pump powerhead 300?

Eheim Compact 300:

* Pump Output: 80 gph
* Max Head: 1.6 ft
* Dimensions: 2.0" x 1.4" x 2.2"

* 3-year manufacturer`s warranty

I was thinking of Swift, but their tubing ID isn't the same.

Eheim is made in Germany, apparently, it should be good, but there is noise made by the pump after a few mth. of usage.

If you are looking for a compact pump with good performance, I would go with either a D-tek Mag, or a Danger Den DDC.

D-tek Mag = $50.00 2.1x2.1x1.75
D.D. DDC = $75.00 2.4x2.4x??

For these 2 little guys:

1) what country made them?
2) what is the dB noise level? I think the powerhead 300 is around 22 db.
3) what is the ID tubing size? I think power head is 3/8 ID.
4) What's the warranty?

You see, the problem w/ the powerhead is that millions of user are screaming due to the noise:

So...it's not the money.

The DDC is about as close to silent as a watercooling pump gets, and is an excellent performer to boot. It uses 3/8" ID fittings and is made by Laing, not DangerDen (they just rebadge it).

As for the Mag pump, it is made by C-systems which has garnered a poor reputation with its previous pumps, I have no experience nor much knowledge of their newer Mag pumps, just that they are new. Dtek also does not make this pump, C-systems does, Dtek rebadges it.

If you are looking for a Reserator replacement for the Eheim Compact 300 I would recommend the Eheim Compact 600. I have taken apart a Reserator and they are easily modded to fit inside in place of the Compact 300. Also since it is a submersible it will be very quiet in the Reserator tube under water. I don't believe the other ones recommended are submersible.

Yeh, the new Mag is supposed to be a very nice pump, lots of good feedback from folks on the Procooling forums. Mine is supposerd to be here on the 14/15th., and I'll write a small reveiw of it...

sounds good, the older csystems pumps always struck me as having a lot of potential, just plagued by far too high a rate of failure.

i like my D5, its small in my opinion, but perhaps not you guys? it also moves much more water and its completely silent with nothing running in my room

I'm sure all these pumps you guys are mentioning work well. :D However, the original poster has been working on a way to get his flow up in a Reserator. So that is why I suggested the Eheim Compact 600 as he is going to have to take the Reserator apart to remove the Compact 300 anyway.

You have some pic. to show this? I was told you can't fit the 600 at the bottom of the reservator.

No I don't, but when I go over to Sharka next week to get some stuff I will see if this can be arranged :)

If the 600 is noisy or reasonably noiser than the 300 to the pt. that you can hear it, then I'll pass or consider it as an abs. last course of action.

Needless to say, a better soln. is to buy another brand name that is quiet and fits at the bottom of the reservator.

I think the noise level of 300 is around 22 db, but the 600 jump to 35 dB or so, and I can't find the web page that I saw the dB level. Surprisingly not on Eheim's web site.

I don't know how you would hear all that noise stuck in side that big hunk of aluminum filled with water. Or are you getting some kind of annoying vibration?

If it's a vibration, the he should promptly switch to the Thermaltake unit. It looks like it SHOULD vibrate. :D :eek:

No, no vibration, but I don't have 600. I am guessing w/ the 600, even inside, you can still hear it. IN which the idea behind zalman is virtually silent. I re-check Yahoo search, there is no dB level on 300 in any web site.

Well I guess we will have to set it up and see :) BTW, those Reserator 2's are just hitting the states now. Seems that Zalman releases products to the USA the very last. Europe always gets Zalman stuff before we do.
