I ordered Tt Extreme Giant 3 and AS5, its on its way here and will be delivered either later on tonight or tomorrow morning. OK, lets get started, how much AS5 do i apply to the core? I really couldnt find any instructions on AS website about how much paste to use on a graphics card. I mean is it same amount as on CPU?
 
AS5 is a very good product, but a bit tricky to use, the application part is easy, but the amount that you apply is a STRONG determinant of what your temperatures will be.
 
First of all, you're going to need a very flat interface between your GPU and your heatsink. If you have a gap in there, it needs to be filled in by something, and that something will be AS5. Since you want as little AS5 in there as possible, you need very good contact. Does the GPU have a bare core, or plastic packaging, or what? I'm not very familiar with that card.

To answer your question in simplified terms, you want to apply it just like you do to a CPU - use a very thin layer (if possible).
 
Suprisingly enough, I bought the same thing - Giant III and a v1000 case. On my Asus Radeon 9800xt, there is a shim stopping the heatsink from making direct contact.
 
the shim is a little below so it still makes contact, just apply it to the core like you would any bare core processor, either with a razor blade, credit card, or plastic bag, and a very thin layer.
 
Just dont forget to add AS5 to the heatpipe mating surface too..if it comes with yours, have fun on installation dude. I had fun with my ZALMAN heatpipe cooler. hehe

Yea, i would have gotten the zalman heatpipe but it doesnt allow any ram sinks to be installed, and so there are only 3 aftermarket coolers to choose from, Tt was my choice since it leans more toward performance and zalman more toward quietness...
