It doesn't matter weather I buy online or offline. I'd rather buy offline from Fry's Electronics for two reasons
1.) I live right down the street from the store
2.) I work there = employee discount
I could probably buy it online for the same as it would cost me at Fry's, but I'd have to wait for it : /

I haven't worked with the vanilla x700 or heard much about it.. but going off of Tomshardware benchmarks, the x700 got 2675 the 9800pro got 2590.
At the same time, the 9800pro IS a 256bit card..... it would be a really close call (if they were the same price but I would personally go with the x700. Its the newer of the 2 cards, cheaper and according to tomshardware.com its faster (even though their benchmarks are a little questionable imo).
Go with the x700.. if you can get the x700pro 256mb card, do it. Its worth the money for the extra bit of power and is a really stable card.

I don't know about the X700, but I know the 9800 XT cards annd the X700 Pro cards perform about the same.
Fry's has been real bad about pricing video cards, at least at the Dallas/Fort Worth store I was in. They had the old 9600 XTs and the X700 Pro AGP cards for $200.
