I just purchased my Sapphire 9800pro 128mb the other day, and when I boot it up I am getting horizontal red lines on my screen, until I turn on reduce dvi frequency at high resolutions. I am running a dell 2001fp flat panel on dvi, Just curious if this is normal.

Sounds like it, sounds like the card and LCD had incorrect vsync or something.

the video card needs to be set to the native resolution/vsync of the LCD for best results.

try this

go into display properties look under displays. now look the the monitor tab check the use DDC information box. now set the the max refresh rate to reccomended rate for best results.

you may also have to reload your monitor drivers

If this doesnt work there are threads in several forums about red lines Hope this helps just a couple of ideas

As I stated I have fixed the problem, i just wanted to know if the card had a problem or if this was a know issue with dvi and the 9800pro. Also LCD's dont have a dcc information check, at least my past 2 have not.

LCDs do have a dcc check if you install the drivers. Some LCDs need the drivers installed. Also as I stated there were alot of people in different forums dealing with the red lines on bothe ATI and NVIDIA cards. If you google this you should find it as there is no search here any longer

Thank you

Drivers for monitor are installed and there is no dcc information. But I have looked on the web and the few links about this problem of course are dead links.
