A couple months ago I decided to get myself a 9800pro as my geforce 3 was suffering in the newer games. So far I love the card, even though the drivers are a little dissapointing. Anyway, I decided it's now time to push this puppy to its limits and OC it.

However, since this is my first ATI card. Im at a loss where to start. With nvidia it was coolbits.... With ATI its? These are the questions I need answered. Also what kind of core/mem speeds are about average on the overclock. This card is a built by Sapphire.

Finally, I heard some 9800pros have been shipping with R360 Cores. From what I've heard the only way to test this is to take off the heatsink and look at the actual chip. The one question I have about this is, can I remove the sink, look at the chip, and then replace the sink? My Thermal Compounds etc are at another apartment so I wont be able to get to them for a couple weeks. I'm basicly asking if I would need to clean off ATIs compound, check it, and then reapply some of my own.

I have a good amount of time now to fool around with settings, just need a good idea where to get started.

there are many

rage3d is one
try a search here or googling it

if you remove the heatsink, you will have to clean it and reapply thermal paste, or maybe even some sort of thermal epoxy if the thing has no screws

here this is easy

RadClocker is to ATI as CoolBits is to nVidia. Yup you guessed it radclocker shows up in your control panel just like cool bits does with nvida. You know why I love overclocking? Cuz with out spending booku bucks i have BOTH ATI and nVidia's top cards (9800 Pro at XT speed and a 5900XT at 5950 ULTRA speeds) and I can give peeps my utterly unbaised opinion: THEY BOTH ROCK!!!!!
