Hello.
I have a radeon 9800 pro. The problem is, i cant access the control panel for the card, the display settings. When i right click on the desktop and hit properties, then go to advanced, i dont see any of the tabs i normally due to adjust the card.
Overlay, Displays, etc, all those tabs are missing. i just have the basic windows tabs - monitor, driver, etc.
I'm not sure how this started but i first noticed it after a fresh install of windows xp pro. It would appear that the drivers arent installed, but they are.
When i try to use the catalyst control center, it freezes on the opening splash screen.
I tried installing the complete driver package, and i also tried installing the driver, catalyst control center, and wdm drivers separatly with no luck.

I did a complete uninstall/reinstall of the drivers also. I am using the latest catalyst 5.13 drivers. I also tried the 5.12 drivers but they didnt work either. I tried physically removing and reininserting the card from the mobo, then reinstalling, no luck.

You need to have .NET installed for the Catalyst Control Centre to work, unfortunately this also uses more system resources, but if you have a look around you can find out which services that can be safely disabled.

I'd be tempted to uninstall your current drivers, then use drivercleaner to delete the files left over (from safe mode is best) install .NET, then reinstall the drivers.

*note .NET isn't required for the standard control panel.

Good Luck

thanks for your response.
i have net 2.0 installed (but not 1.0 if that matters).
even so, the standard control panel isnt working.

Maybe a simple uninstall and reinstall of the driver might help?

Possibly reinstall your motherboard AGP driver and DX9 as well.

ok i uninstalled all drivers, and i used driver cleaner as per the readme file. then i reinstalled directx9.0c, and the ati drivers. still the same issue. currently i'm reinstalling the agp chipset for my intel mobo. :(

ok, now i have real problems.
when i went to reinstall the chipset driver for my intel mobo, i got a blue screen that said 'no more irp stack locations 0x00000035
So i restarted and tried to install the chipset driver again (ballsy) and got another blue screen, this one just said 0x00000085.
so i restarted, and got the error message something like:
'windows could start because the following file is missing or corrupt: isapnp.sys'

so i searched microsoft support on another computer and managed to repair the isapnp.sys file using the windows cd-rom repair console.

but i'm still having the same issues with the ati card settings!!!!
catalyst control center seems to install ok,

i'm starting to think it could be the mobo..? the onboard lan on the mobo also stopped being detected by windows not long ago.

Just a reminder, ATI CCC 5.13 does not work with DotNet 2.0, you need CCC 5.12 or 6.1 to make it work, or the easiest way...Ati Tray Tools
