9800pro Artifacts

Hey guys,

I'm running a 2.6Ghz C, Dimension 8300 and I've had my Radeon 9800pro for almost 5 months now.

Just the other day I was playing NHL 2005 on PC and I noticed artifacts in the menu screen. I'm running my card at the stock core and memory.

After that I popped in NBA LIVE 2004 also on PC and saw artifacts in the rafters and so forth and saw missing textures in the hardwood. Before even buying NHL 2005 I had never seen artifacts in NBA.

In order to get rid of the artifacts I tried underclocking my card, however, that didn't help at all.

In 2D mode the screen is fine and when I click view the properties of the GPU it says the card's working properly.

Now is this a heat issue? I haven't restricted any air flow nor put my tower in a position to be filled with all the heat generated by my card. I just ordered a VGA Silencer Rev3. Would that fix it? Someone suggested that my problem lies with the chip itself.

Lastly I noticed that the SmartGart tab was missing. I reinstalled the CAT drivers but that didn't help.

Anyway, thanks for reading and hopefully I'll get some answers. Thanks again.
