Anyone seen a 9800pro 256mb like this one? By the looks of it, it has a FDD power supply?

yes it is ugly and as far as not needing 256Meg...I would say not YET and by the time you do need it that card is going to be way out dated and I also agree with Particleman that this looks like a 9700 due to the power connector

People use to say "wow, you have 64MB of ram on your 8500!!"
There's no such thing as too much ram ;)

ugly yes.
256mb soon. or maybe now with farcry and ut2k4.
i know for the extra 20 dollars i paid for my 256mb 9800pro, ill see the difference in the long run.

Extra VRAM may not be needed for most games but if you want to play the custom UT2003 map (DM-2019), then it helps a lot. Also, you might need it for Doom3.

If you're getting a new card, 9700 or better, get 256mb. Better safe than sorry, especially if the card has to last you. Almost all nexgen games (not including ut2k4, excellent coding on Epic's part), will need the ram. And as said above, you can never have enough ram.
