9800 Pro overheating?

I have a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 AIW. It works fine, just occassionally it will overheat and the screen goes all crazy(only in games), until recently. Now I play a game for 5 minutes and it does it(WoW and CS:Source). I bought a new cooler for it, should be in soon. I'm just wondering why it does it now, and not before. Also, what are the stock speeds in it? Mines clocked at 400Mhz(core), I haven't changed anything on it.
 
Could be a lot of things: Case temperature higher [bad fan, room temperature, blocked air intake], dust all over the heatsink, a component going south, could even be crap getting down into the AGP socket. Possibly even a power supply problem, if the card isn't getting clean power. What kind of PSU you got in there?
 
Agree with above poster...I have a 520w psu and mine has no problems so far....A better cooler DOES help out alot tho imho...
 
I have a 350W Enermax, i've had this card for about 6 months now. Didn't have problems until recently so I don't think it's the power supply. It could be going bad though I suppose. I just cleaned out all the dust 2 days ago. My only logical guess that i've had so far is that the thermal paste put on in the factory is wearing out(don't know if that happens) but that cooler will arrive tomorrow anyway. I'll post back after if the problem is still going on. During POST it shows voltages and such. And recently one of the rails is in red(high) text for a few seconds then goes back to white(normal) could be a problem.
