I recently purchased a 9800 pro + a vga silencer from newegg.com due to the success that many people seem to be having with this combo and reaching speeds beyond that of the XT. Installing the VGA silencer was very suprisingly very simple (used a little left over AS ceramique) and it seems to be doing a great job. However, I have no experience with overclocking a video card. Last night I tried messing around with the omega drivers but everytime I restarted my computer the card would revert to stock speeds. There seem to be a few utilities out there for overclocking ATI cards. I was wondering if anyone had any advice as to what program yields the best OC (if there is a difference in OCs between programs) and what ones are fairly easy to use/pick up on. Also, any other advice related to do's and don'ts while OCing would be very helpful.

Try radclocker or w1zzards ATiTool. ATiTool is still in beta but it works quite well and automatically detects overclocked settings for you.

ATiTool is here.

Yeah, I saw that one, and it looks pretty nice. Is there any ratio I have to be mindful of when overclocking the core and the memory speed or are they independent of each other?
