9800 pro ati tool wierd

stock clocks are: core 378MHz, mem 337MHz

i tried find max mem with ati tool and when i came back i had black lines all over the screen and couldnt read any text, so i rebooted and then i got that message in the screen.

this happened once earlier but i stopped it when i saw it was just going down under 300 MHz. anyone know whats wrong and can tell me how to stop this?

lmao, i dont know, but i also have the same card, same stock speeds. I am using atiTool 0.24. I didnt really use it that much, but it seems to work. I dunno, r u using the same one as me or a diff one? Im getting the zalman vga cooler hopefully end of week so ill do a testing to see how much more i can overclock with stock and new hs, so ill use that prog, ill tell u when i do, see if i also get the same problem.
 
How long does it normally take to find the maxes? I set it to find them on my 9500pro and it seriously ran for over an hour with nothing, and was still running. Is AtiTool just not compatible with that old of a card?
 
ATI Tool will run as long as you let it, or until it does that black line thing and needs to reboot.

as far as the 21.21, why don't you just manually overclock it? obviously that gauge in the software is messed up for your setup.
