980 ti $650

Yeah like shitty lazy driver support and no optimization on day 1 of major game launches. Then again that wouldn't really be a surprise.

I'll never go back to the nightmare that was AMD drivers during my Radeon years, but my wallet thanks AMD fanbois for their blind devotion since my new 980Ti would've probably cost more and come out even later if not for AMD's still barely hanging on.

Yeah I am really enjoying my Geforce Crashing Experience. I am sorry but Nvidia drivers have literally gone down the shitter these last few years. Nvidia Streamer service constantly destroying my FPS, GE crashing and freezing my PC, 2 BSODs in the last month. I'd say AMD is starting to look like the better company here.

I think you may have some other underlying stability issue. It's completely possible that it's NV, but seeing as how all of this is running on my system, with zero issues, I'd tend to doubt it.

Trust me, I have googled the problem and get thousands of results, it's not just me. The Nvidia Geforce Experience is a piece of junk that does absolutely nothing to give me a better experience. Give me the automatic driver updates but let me disable all the other crap. And sadly I still have to use Nhancer for my tweaks because the standard control panel has gotten incredibly laggy.

The new drivers did boost my Witcher 3 FPS but only after I had to do some technical workarounds.

Hmm... Yeah, I agree, that GeForce Experience is pretty useless. No argument there. I let it install out of pure laziness. However, like I said, no crashes or stability issues on my system. Just makes me wonder what the cause would be.

The problem is I DO use the Geforce Experience. I have my Nvidia Shield tablet which I picked up on clearance and I can stream PC games to my office and it works great. I just don't want the stupid stream service running 24/7 in the background killing my FPS when I am not using it. I also hate that the software freezes 50% of the time I open it and crashes saying there was an unknown error. I also hate that it takes 10 minutes to refresh the game list which also locks up the entire app while it does it. As far as driver issues itself, I have experienced everything from gains to losses. Some drivers increase my FPS in some games awhile lowering it in others. The kernel display driver tends to drop and restart randomly as well, usually once or twice a month. I understand getting drivers to work is hard but AMD isn't the only one with problems.

Oh, I'm not disputing that a problem exists, or even remotely comparing to AMD (which IMO still need more work than NV but...) I'm just curious why I'm not seeing the issue. Must just be my specific use-cases don't include whatever is causing it. I use the GE to update drivers, etc. but don't make heavy use of its other features. That could be why. Also my system is totally clean as I recently did a new build, so other than a bunch of Steam games, I don't have a lot on there.

Buy GoG DRM-free games whenever possible to put Goliath in its place. You have a choice...at least some of the time... :)

Keep on rolling with that "my favorite product kicks your favorite product's ass" line and we'll all find ourselves eyeballing prices way higher than they are now. I for one think it's a damn good idea to ensure competition or we'll be seeing GPUs priced like Intel Coppermine P3s back in the day. Nvidia has already set the bar for "high end" to $1k and everyone seems to just accept that shit like it's the new normal. Screw that!

You need to re-evaluate your current position and correct it to the proper standpoint of "My wallet versus the products". Attacking someone for their choices in the pool of available options is playing into misdirection fed to you by marketers. Don't be their tool! :D

How old are you?

He has a point but so do you. I think the 980 staying at $500 is fair for now If Fiji ends up being faster and cheaper I would personally sell my g1 and jump ship. Since I paid $529 brand new 4 months ago, I should be able to get a good percentage back if the 980 goes to $499. I may sell now and just use my back up 7870 or 290x for the time being.

Is it just me or is the vapor chamber cooler not being used on the Titan X and 980ti like it was on the 780 and original Titan and Titan black??

The fins are an open design which correlates to the heat pipe design. This seems to completely explain why the cooler is louder than the original reference titan vapor chamber cooler.
