9700pro or 9800pro

i currently am running a p4 2.4b 655max 768mb ram. i think this system would be bottle necking the 9800 pro? would i be able to notcie a big enough difference between 9700 and 9800pro on this comp. i think i can get the 9800pro for $170 and 9700pro $140-150 any opion would be nice thx. Im upgrading this card from an fx5200 blah!!! so it will hold me off to the end of the year when i plan to buy my dream machine

You might want to check that $170 9800 Pro, to make sure it's not a 128 bit, 128 MB card. You want the 128 MB, 256 bit card. The only ones I've seen at 170 dollars is the 128 bit card.

Yea but what are the performance differences between a 256bit & 128bit 9800pro? Is it worth the $30 extra to go with the 256bit? Or is it a performance gap similar to a 9800SE - 9800(pro)?

That's stupid in my opinion. A 9800Pro should be 256 bit, the new system is just to trick consumers.

The 256bit 9800 Pro is going to be a lot better than the 128bit version. It is worth the extra money and I would get the 9800 Pro 256 bit over the 9700 Pro.
