I have a 9700pro video card that will NOT work with my asus k8n-e. if i do not plug in the power connector, it will give me the message in the red box about not being powered, but if i plug it in, i never get a video signal whatsoever (no bios, no post, nada.) i have popped in a gf 5200 and it works fine, as does my old gf3. but the radeon card will not work on the board. i have tested the 9700 on another system with a via chipset and it works fine. i have tried different memory, disabling fast writes in the bios, even another 9700 pro. i have updated the bios on the mainboard as well.
if anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it please let me know. i have been wanting a gf 6800gt, but was not really ready to get one right now.
thanks for any help.

What is your power supply?
Make & model

It needs to be properly sized to support the card...

...and there's always the chance that its taken a hit and just cant quite put out enough clean power to support the card and the rest of the system.

hmmm thats a good point, havent thought of that one. the power supply is an antec true 550, so power should be ok as far as rated wattage.
i will check the system out with another power supply tomorrow.
thanks for the reply.

Running a 9700 Pro here on a Abit AN7 nforce2 ultra 400 board, no problemo.

well that wasnt it. i hooked the card up to the system and powered it with a 250w psu by itself, and it still wouldnt come up. but that setup did still work on my old via chipset.
any more ideas?

Same here, I had it in an Asus nForce board before this and it worked fine as well.
