I just tried to play bf1942 at 1024xx768 on 16 bit and it was total unplayable even on medium textures ect

it at stock with ram sinks on the memory

why?

specs and 3d mark scores in sig

Weird, it works great for me at 1024x768 with 4xaa/8xaf in 32bit with pretty much every other setting on highest. Maybe you shouldn't join servers with 64 players.

Only 12.5K in 3Dmark 01? That's not right, you should be getting around 15-16K with that setup. I can get 17K with mine which isn't really that much better. As for BF1942 I too can play at 10x7 with 4x/8x. Did you previously have an nVidia card by chance?

I upgraded from a 9100. I reformated and installed a few days ago and intslled xp pro, I installed some new ram sinks, the card is running stock now, but yeaha I wasnted more on 01. It was 2nd hand 2 weeks old tho. Nothing wrong visualy with the card, i am using cats 3.10

should i oc it a bit?
what can i get it to stable?

Do you have AGP Texture Acceleration enabled?

To check Click Start > Run > Type dxdiag

Once the app has opened, click the Display Tab and it should tell you whether or not it's enabled.

Yes It is Enabled. I did install the derivers from a CD that is like 2 years old, I will try that also. Could it be the card its self? Something I am doing wrong?
LMK and Thanks

Some usefull info mite be below.

If you are, you deserve the painful death my ninja assassination squad will do upon thee

It's the cat 3.10s

Now when I installed the new mobo dirvers, when I go and open up 3d mark 03 and 01 and it goes, it goes for a bit then my moniter goes off, and the green active light, goes yellow for stand by,

ideas?

i just relaized that i changed it to performance for d3 but not for open gl, it was on middle, after i changed that i can't get it to benchy

Have you tried running everything stock speeds?

What kind of PSU do you have?

Does it work with other CATs?

Do your games work?

Cheers,

Mr. Pain

Sounds like something is wrong im not sure if its the videocard or something eles like maybe bad ram....run memtest 86 to see if your ram is messed up.

I have a 9700pro running at stock speeds i could easily get 15k in 2001se and 5550 points in 2003. I overclocked it a bit and now i can reach 16k 01 and 6-7k in 03.

But something is definately wrong i can max out everything in BF1942 and 1024x768 with 4xAA 8xAF 32bit. With no problem. Maybe your 512mb of ram is not enough to run a 64 player server.

I just finished reformating. I am installing drivers ect now. Just finished installing my old mobo drivers. My mobo supports 4x agp but I know that does not make a big dif.

When I tried it I played in Single Player.
I have a 300 maybe 350 w psu, pretty shure it's 350.
I ordered some new Corsair XMX 512 2700 Ram. Should be here in a few days.

Any more ideas?

You going to run dual channel 2x512mb? Does your mobo support it? It would help. No it doesn't matter that your mobo doesn't support 8X agp. 4X is fine. Maybe it was BF itself that was giving you problems...you should have deleted and reinstalled it again and patch up. Sometimes when you do this it fixes some problems.

It was just a fresh install, single player, did not really put anything into it. Well I just installed XP and for some reason the onboard lan is going me probs, not letting me resintall giving me probs so I am reformating again. Agh, I never should of installed those new mobo drivers, bah

yea, i have the same setup as you

ive got a BBA Radeon 9700PRO retail that i got at launch
P4 2.4B Ghz with 533mhz bus, not overclocked and your at 2.88!!!
last 3dmark03 run was when i only had 512meg of memory
and I scored 5016!!! you shouldn't be only scoring 4200

he's got the 845PE chipset, only rated for DDR333, single channel mode, its not a dual channel board nor processor, think back a year ago

Well after all that formating and everything I figgured that I would install 01 and give it a go. And rejoyce, I went from I think 12,500 or something to to 13,731. Hurra. Still, it should be higher,. Gonna do 03 now,

BTW

I have some Corsair XMX PC 2700 Ram comming in the mail this week, should be a good upgrade from my Nanya Tech PC 2700 Stuff.

I JUST NOTICED THAT IT WAS RUNNING AT 2.4 instead of 2.88, wahhaha

Just finished 03. Got a score of 4909, alot better than 4236 or whatever.

Here is the ORB Page if you wannna see the full specs of the bench.

03 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1913346
01 - http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7460232

Those are at stock speeds so hrm. Guess I will leave it stock for now

Also,

With ram sinks on 7/8 of my mem chips and with stock cooling what can I overclock to. 350/320? What would be good to upgrade my stock cooling to. Thanks alot.

You say BF1942 is unplayable... are you getting constantly low framerates or is it having occasional hiccups/stalls/etc. interspersed with "proper" operation?

playable, stall, low fps, stall, playable,

just keeps repeating over a 5 sec interviul.

Not enough ram could cause that, but I've run it ok on 256MB machines before, so it should be fine there unless you've got some huge background task running.

Someone on here mentioned changing the PCI latency settings using powerstrip to deal w/ "stuttering" problems. Basically if they're set wrong it can cause a device to not get enough bus time. This was mostly with regards to sound though, and Audigy cards in particular, but it'd probably be worth trying.

Stalling can be caused by a lot of things.

Most likely it is an errant TSR program.

If running XPhome/pro, just create a new user account that loads up no extra TSR stuff, and use that profile when playing games. Make sure automatic XP updates are "off", and as a last resort, don't use an "internet" keyboard < Last one, I found out myself.

i don't really care about bf 1942, it's more what can i go it to overclocked with ramsinks on the memory and stock hsf, and why my 3dmark scores are so low
